Akshay Tritiya is also known as Akha Teej… It falls on the 3rd day of the Shukla paksh of the Vaisakha month of the Hindu calendar . It is a very auspicious day and holds strong religious significance for Hindus.  The day is considered to be an aboojh muhurt ( ie a muhurt when no evil can prevail and only victories are manifested). The work Akshay itself means which cannot be diminished or destroyed so anything that is done on this day stands the test of the time and has a long lasting effect.

Doing charities, donations, mantra chanting , meditation, Pitru Tarpan, buying gold, starting new things , Grih pravesh etc are considered very auspicious as it is believed that these will bring growth and gains in one’s life and remain with the person as lifetimes of good fortune.

It is considered very auspicious if Akshay tritiya falls on a Wednesday and in Rohini nakshatra. This year Akshay tritiya will start with Rohini Nakshatra in the first half of the day till 10:47 am..   

It is a very auspicious day of the Hindu year and the day is ruled by Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kuber ... Buying gold, silver or even grains is considered very auspicious on this day as it will only multiply with time by the blessings of the Divine Supreme.

It is also believed that Treta Yuga had started on Akshay Tritiya Day… Lord Ganesha has started writing the epic of Mahabharata from this day onwards.. This is the only day when the disciples of Banke Bihari ( Lord Krisha ) in Vrindavan can do the darshan of his feet… The doors of the Tirtha ( holy place) Badrinath dham are opened up on Akshay Tritiya for the darshan of Lord Vishnu. 

Parshuram Jayanti ( Birth Anniversary) is also celebrated on this day but sometimes it is a day earlier depending on when the  pradosh kaal of tritiya tithi is falling as Lord Parshuram the 6th incarnate of Lord Vishnu was born on the pradosh kaal time…

Akshay Tritiya and Parshuram Jayanti will be celebrated on the 10th of May 2024.

AKSHAY TRITIYA Puja Muhurat : 5:33 am – 12:38 pm

offer prayers to Lord Ganvati , Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kuber in the morning. chant Lakshmi suktam and Vishnu ji Mantra to get Divine blessings.  light a ghee diya , burn incense , offer them roli, akshat ( rice grains) ,  flowers and Offer them Naivedya .

Chant the following mantras :

“Aum Gan Ganpataye namaak ” 

”  Aum Namo Bhagvate Vaasudevaay”

” Aum Shreem Shriye Namah ” 

Chant all the three mantras 108 times each. seek the blessings of the Divine and do some charities.. Donating grains are considered very auspicious on this day.
