Shani Amavasya falls on the day when its a Saturday and amavasya tithi prevails on that day. According to ‘Bhavishya Purana’, it is believed that Shani dev has a special fondness for Amavasya Tithi and when it falls on a Saturday it becomes even special for offering him prayers as the manifestations of what one seeks is fulfilled immediately. In the auspicious month of Margshirsha, Amavasya Tithi is falling on a Saturday on the 30th of November 2024.

Amavasya Tithi starts: 10:29 am (30th November 2024)

Amavasya Tithi ends: 11:50 am (1st December 2024)

Shani is the significator of Divine judgements based on one’s karma. It represents legal matters, hard work, servants and also divine Soul purpose.  the seven and half year period of Saturn popularly known as Shani Sade Saati and its two and half year period known as Dhaiyya phase are the phases when one faces a lot of changes in one’s life. It can push one out of one’s comfort zone and make one pave a new path for himself/ herself in a new environment. Appeasing Saturn in auspicious days that are the most comfortable for Lord Shani’s energies helps one in overcoming any hurdles one otherwise might face during Shani Sadhesati Phase or Shani dhaiyya phase.

Shani Amavasya is also a very auspicious time to offer prayers to one’s ancestors and one can get expiated from Pitrudosha impact that is generally reflected in one’s horoscope. This is the reason Shani amavasya is also celebrated as Pitrakaryaeshu Amavasya. It is therefore considered to be an extremely auspicious day to get relief from any hindrances or obstacles caused due to Shani Sadesaati, Shani Dhaiyya, Pitrudosha and Kalsarpa yoga. 

HOW TO OFFER PRAYERS TO LORD SHANI:

Shani Amavasya is a beautiful day to offer prayers to lord Shani and to appease him to bless you with his all the good things in life. one should do the following to get blessings of Shani Dev on Shanaishchari Amavasya.

1. Light a mustard oil lamp / diya in front of Lord Shani. Offer Mustard oil Abhishek to Shani Dev on Saturday night.
2. Chant the mantra “Om Shan Shaneshacharya Namah” or  “Om Pram Preem Proma Shan Shaneshcharya Namah” in front of Lord Shani. One can also chant the mantra while thinking of him and seeking his blessings.
3. Light a mustard oil lamp / diya in front of Peepul tree on Saturday evening.
4. Performing Pitrutarpan on this day is considered to be very auspicious.
5. Perform charity, donation, hawans etc on this day in the name of your dead ancestors and seek their blessings as this helps in expiating Pitrudosha.
6. Donate black urad dal, cloves, black sesame seeds, one iron utensil, 1 and 1/4th meter black cloth , mustard oil, kala chana to a needy on this day.
7. Take a bath in holy river.
8. Recite Shani Chalisa, Shani Dashrath Strota , Hanuman Chalisa or Bajrang Baan path on the day of Shani Amavasya.
9. Offering prayers to Lord Hanuman ji is very auspicious today as he helps in protecting anyone suffering from Saturns ill effects in life.
10. Do charities for your lower staff or servants working under you.  

Following the above rituals helps one in connecting with Divine powers of Shani Dev and in seeking his blessings. it is believed that the blessings of Shani can one make a king and his curse can destroy a person’s life. Since Amavasya tithi is most dear to Lord Shani , it is believed that Shani dev is extremely happy on this day and blesses everyone who seeks his blessings on this day.
