The festival begins in the Lunar month of Ashwin Shukla Paksha Pratipada and runs till Navami . During these nine days different Avatars of Goddess Durga are invoked and worshipped. It is believed that during these nine days Goddess Shakti decends on Earth and blesses anyone who invokes her and worships her.
This year the 9 day Navratri period will start from 7th of October and culminate on the 15th of October with Dussehra or Vijay Dashmi…
This period is also a very powerful period for energizing and activating one’s chakras ( energy vortex ) and activating Kundalini … Each day is dedicated to energize a certain chakra and there is a whole process to it…
On the first day of the Navratri many devotees Worship Goddess Durga by invoking her on an Urn popularly called as ‘Kalash’ / ‘Ghat’ .

8th October : Dwitiya ( 2nd Navratri ) Maa Brahmacharini , Color – White
9th October : Tritiya ( 3rd Navratri) Maa Chandraghanta , Color – Red
9th October : Chaturthi ( 4th Navratri ) , Maa Kushmanda , Color – Dark Blue
10th October : Panchami ( 5th Navratri ) Maa Skandmata , Color – Yellow
11th October : Shashthi ( 6th Navratri) Maa Katyayani , Color – Green
Sarswati Pujan
12th October : Saptami ( 7th Navratri) Maa Kaalratri , Color – Grey
13th October : Ashtami ( 8TH navratri) , Maa Mahagauri , Color – Purple
14th October : Navami ( 9th Navratri) , Maa Siddhidatri , Color – Peacock Green
15th October : Vijay Dashmi ( Dussehra) , Durga Visarjan ,
Vijay Muhurt : 2:02 pm – 2:48 pm
One can do Kanya pujan on the Ashtami or on the Navami
In Kanya Pujan , 9 little girls and a boy are invited to home and are offered prayers and gifts are given to them as they represent 9 forms of Goddess and Bhairav.)

14th October : Aayudh Pujan ( Shastra Pujan / prayers offered to weapons )
Aayudh Pujan Time: 2:02 pm – 2:48 pm
15th October : Vijay Dashmi is celebrated as the day of the victory of good over evil as Lord Ram had killed Ravan on this day…
